I finally made the cake. I gave up looking for guava paste in my little Mississippi town & used Smuckers guava jam instead.
For the cheese, I used finely shredded Parmesan cheese. The recipe didn't specify, but I didn't think I was supposed to used the powdery Kraft cheese.
I found the instructions kinda sketchy.
That said, I didn't really enjoy the cake. I thought the flavor was lackluster & found the crumb to be very coarse and tough. Maybe that was my doing and not the recipe, I don't know.
